FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Former Mealey’s Publisher Buys Mealey’s Conferences, Renames as HB Litigation Conferences LLC

PHILADELPHIA, January 12, 2009 – Mealey’s Conferences, producer of high-end legal programs on insurance, reinsurance, toxic torts and complex litigation, has been acquired by the former publisher of Mealey Publications, a legal news company now owned by LexisNexis.

The conference company has been rebranded HB Litigation Conferences LLC.

The new owner and former Mealey’s publisher, Tom Hagy, 51, will continue the group’s focus on dynamic practice areas and working with top legal talent to educate and connect attendees at 24 conferences and 100 teleconferences each year.

Hagy acquired the business from Business Valuation Resources LLC, a respected publisher of information services for business valuation professionals, accountants, attorneys, and executives.  David Foster, CEO of BVR, acquired Mealey’s Conferences from LexisNexis in July of 2008.

“We want to maintain the best of Mealey’s Conferences, giving our speakers a greater marketing boost and offer customers more options by delivering our conference content in a wider variety of formats and price points,” Hagy said.   He cited expansion of audio-video Web content, custom programs and periodicals based on the hundreds of speakers who present at the events each year.  Hagy also noted the company’s new tagline, “Promoting legal discourse since 1992,” to reflect the group’s 17-year history of featuring different perspectives on dynamic areas of law.

All Mealey’s Conferences employees are staying with HB Litigation Conferences, including Sharon Boothe, who has been the conference director since 1992.  “I feel lucky to have Sharon’s enduring commitment to quality in our events.  She has led and nurtured this business through many transitions and challenges.”  Hagy cited times when the team, led by Boothe, was able to launch programs within hours of major developments, relocate events in a matter of days in the face of natural or unnatural disasters, and maintain high customer satisfaction through three acquisitions.

“I feel strongly that we bring something unique to our events and am thrilled to have the chance to help lead the company into its next phase,” said Boothe.

Hagy said that Lynnsey Perrin Hee, who brings to the company a unique blend of sales and business development talents, will continue on as director of business and client development.  “I am proud of the many relationships I have developed in the past three years and look forward to seeing more of my contacts at our events.”

“Lynnsey has been instrumental in developing our business and we are thrilled to have her on board,” Hagy said.

Hagy also announced that Cyndy Noonan would continue as director of conference operations.  “Obviously this is a critical role to a conference business, and no one can keep the wheels on better than Cyndy,” Hagy said.

Additional members of the team include:  Amy Hackett, conference development; Allison Emery, multimedia materials editor; Kristi Savage, marketing & production; Barbara Hammons, CLE accreditation; Wendy Foster, marketing director; and Kathleen McFadden, administration manager.

HB Litigation Conferences LLC, formerly Mealey’s Conferences, is a leading provider of legal education conferences, teleconferences and multimedia content covering insurance, reinsurance, toxic torts, products liability, construction defects, and complex commercial litigation.  It is an independent provider whose goal is to create premium networking and educational events for attorneys.
