Five Sitting Judges Featured at Tort Law Seminar Focused on Asbestos, HB Announces
LOS ANGELES – Five sitting judges from Los Angeles and Oakland, Calif., will appear at a continuing legal education seminar along with a panel of seasoned litigators and trial attorneys at the Omni Los Angeles on Dec. 7, 2010, HB Litigation Conferences CEO Tom Hagy has announced.
“We are proud to have such respected jurists joining our panel of experienced litigators and others with expertise in various aspects of litigation,” Hagy said. The seminar is fully accredited for continuing legal education, including ethics credit.
There are a limited number of free seats set aside for in-house counsel, law schools, media and sitting judges, Hagy added.
The judges from Los Angeles Superior Court will be Hon. Elihu Berle, Civil Supervising Judge; Hon. Owen Lee Kwong; and Hon. Michael Solner. From Alameda County Superior Court the judges will be Hon. Kenneth Burr and Hon. Robert Freedman.
Titled “Asbestos Litigation West Coast Crash Course,” this conference and webcast is being chaired by Martha A. Berman of Levin Simes Kaiser & Gornick of San Francisco and Frank D. Pond of Pond North in Los Angeles.
Designed to focus on asbestos but valuable for any tort attorney, Hagy said topics include emerging trends in the litigation; case selection; discovery; best practices in Medicare reporting; effective deposition practices; trial preparation; settlement strategies; understanding mesothelioma diagnosis and treatment; working with expert witnesses; and more.
