Judges Share Pros & Cons, Risks & Rewards of Digital Presentations
Judges gathered at an HB’s Judicial Forum on Asbestos June 3, 2009 for a session on the use of technology at trial. The technology they most commonly see – PowerPoint – drew the most discussion as the judges listed their preferences and rules, as well as the pros and cons. In this clip, one Texas judge noted that, except of course for the 50 courts in his state that don’t have electricity, that PowerPoints can be “devastatingly effective.” He said people retain 20% of what they hear, 40% of what they see, and 90% of what they see and hear.
