To Speak at Judicial Forum Lead by Hon. Symchych (former)
Rita A. McConnell, Vice President and Chief Litigation Counsel for Medtronic, Inc., will participate on two panels during the Nov. 9, 2012, HB conference entitled “Too Big to Litigate: A Judicial and Lawyers’ Forum on The New Paradigm of Cost-Driven Litigation Strategies.”
The program – which is complimentary for in-house counsel and members of the judiciary – was conceived and will be chaired by Hon. Janice M. Symchych (former), now a neutral at mediation giant JAMS. Hon. Symchych is a former U.S. Magistrate Judge and former Deputy General Counsel at Medtronic.
Medtronic is a global leader in medical device technology used in the management of chronic diseases. Headquartered in Minneapolis, the company reported annual revenue of over $16B for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2012.
As Chief Litigation Counsel, McConnell leads a team of five lawyers who manage the company’s litigation portfolio, including product liability, commercial, and employment litigation. In addition, McConnell has primary responsibility for managing complex litigation matters including multi-district litigation, shareholder and ERISA class actions, and complex product liability matters.
During her career, McConnell has represented both private and public sector clients in state and federal court trials, arbitrations, and administrative hearings in a variety of employment and business litigation matters. McConnell also has extensive experience providing advice and counsel on employment issues, competitive practices, and trade secret issues.
McConnell is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and Duke University School of Law.
