HB is proud to announce Michael K. Rozen of Feinberg Rozen will speak at Trying an Asbestos Case: How to Get the ‘W’ in Boston on March 1.
Rozen will speak alongside a long-time defense attorney and chair of HB’s (then Mealey’s) first conference — David Governo of the Governo Law Firm — on a session that will address the ethical considerations involved in global settlements of mass torts.
The conference is chaired by defense attorney Jeffrey King of K&L Gates of Boston and Richard Meadows from the New York office of The Lanier Law Firm.
Feinberg has achieved national prominence as a strategist, negotiator and court-appointed special master, having successfully resolved thousands of complex, multi-party cases. Product liability cases in which he has played a significant role include asbestos, lead paint, Fen-Phen, Zyprexa, Cox 2 and medical device cases. Rozen served as court-appointed Special Settlement Master/Referee for asbestos litigation in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and New York State Supreme Court, and as the Special Discovery Master/Referee for asbestos litigation in the City of New York.
Rozen played a major role in a number of other massive and complex litigations, including Cook v. Georgia Pacific Corp., et al. (consolidation of asbestos cases), In re Eastern District Asbestos Litigation (consolidation of asbestos cases remanded from MDL court), and In re Certain Lead Paint Cases (appointed by court to allocate settlement funds among numerous individuals). Also, Rozen has assisted corporations in structuring and negotiating prepackaged asbestos bankruptcies.
