Karen Weldin Stewart, the Insurance Commissioner for the state of Delaware, will join the highly distinguished panel during the session entitled “Great Debate – The Future of Solvent Schemes and Other Finality Options” at the upcoming Solvent Schemes of Arrangement Conference scheduled for January 24, 2012 in New York.
Stewart was elected to a four-year term as Insurance Commissioner in 2008. She first joined the Insurance Commission in 1989 as a Deputy Receiver. In 1993, she left that position to open the insurance and reinsurance consulting company the Weldin Group, Inc. She was also a co-founder of IAIR (International Association of Insurance Receivers) and served as its president three times.
Commissioner Stewart also has been serving as Regulatory Coordinator for over 22 years with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) where she created the Receivers Handbook for Insurance Company Insolvencies and has assisted in drafting model legislation for use in other states seeking accreditation.
This experienced regulator will be joined on the panel by program John Winter, Ruxley Ventures; Susan Power Johnston, Covington & Burling; and Chris Heckman, Exxon Mobil Corporation.
